Guest of Honour Announcement
The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc Musar, former attorney and Information Commissioner, confirms her attendance at DISCO.
We are proud to announce that the President of the Republic of Slovenia Nataša Pirc Musar will join us at the conference. Known for her devotion to freedom of information, Pirc Musar holds a PhD from Vienna University on the balance between access to public information and personal data protection.
In the context of digital sovereignty, striking a balance between access to public information and personal data protection is crucial to ensure transparency, respect privacy, promote trust, and empower individuals and organisations to navigate the digital realm with autonomy. Without access to information, we can’t stay informed, which prevents us from participating in public discourse and holding institutions accountable. On the other hand, we have the right to determine how our own data is collected, stored, and used. Protection of personal data is crucial for maintaining trust and preventing unauthorised surveillance.
Don’t miss the Conversation with the President of Slovenia, a renowned data protection lawyer and former Information Commissioner, as she explores how privacy and data protection relate to digital sovereignty and talks about what a small country like Slovenia can do to ensure its digital autonomy and independence.
